in Decorating each room in a home , there are some basics for everything like colors , pictures , plants ,must do this , must not do that ,….etc.
so , what are these basics ?
You can stick to three colors and bring one of the colors into the other rooms. Example, if you use blue and white in the living room and accents with pale yellow, then in the dining room you choose green and white you can accent in pale yellow Then you could use yellow in the kitchen. It makes it flow together if all the room are visible.
The middle of the pictures are best hung at eye level. I hang mine between my husbands height and mine.
Most of the rest is personal choice.
Watch out for to much clutter. Walk into the house as if it was a sample house and look for what is out of place.

You can go to Amazon or any online bookstore or any real bookstore for that matter and find Christopher Lowell’s book, Seven Layers of Design. He details how every room can be furnished starting with essentially bare walls all the way to what furniture the room needs, based on an individuals tastes and needs.

The real basic is creating a room that you love and can live in. There’s nothing worse than a room that is so "decorated" you could never live in it.
First, find your style–traditional? country? contemporary? eclectic? Browse websites and magazines to find the style you identify with most.
Then, pick your colors–neutrals? brights? pastels? earth tones? Again, browse the brochures that paint stores offer. Find a palette that is inviting to you. You may want to consider an overall palette for your whole home that centers on three or four colors. You may have rooms that you paint a different color, but you may want to "coordinate" all of the colors into a theme. You can also pick three to four colors for each room. One or two can be wall paint (try the paint color tool at http://www.behr.com), one or two can be furniture (sofas, chairs, bedspread), and another can be window coverings and accents (rugs, pillows, lampshades, etc.).
You should "build" each room around the furniture and color, and then accessorize.
When you accessorize, you can add your own personality, compensate for a feature or a flaw in the room, add visual interest, inject extra color, and so on. For instance, plants add both color and texture to a room. I have hardwood floors, which make my rooms seem "hard" and angular. Plants help soften that up. Add accessories that reflect your family, personality or interests–musical instruments if you play, an antique table your great-grandfather hand crafted, and so on.
I hope that gives you some food for thought!
